It is property of the Smithsonian Institute. 82 SIERRA LEONE I Weight of the original diamond 32.12 cts, From a magnificent rough crystal, top quality and of 75.00 cts., this 32.12 cts. pear-shaped stone and a brilliant of 3.95 cts. were cut. The stone was exhibited at the Midwest Trade Show in Chicago in 1960. 83 STAR OF ARKANSAS Weight of the original diamond 8.27 cts. It is small compared to many big famous diamonds, but it is one of the biggest stones ever found in the "Diamond Crater" in Arkansas. The weight of the original rough diamond was 15.33 cts. 84 STAR OF ESTE Weight of the original diamond 26.16 cts. Similar to the Polar Star but smaller and light yellow in color, this diamond was the property of the Royal Family of Este in Modena, Italy. When Mary Beatrice of Este married the Archduke Ferdinand of Austria, the diamond passed to the Austrian Royal Family. It disappeared in 1919 together with many other jewels. 85 STAR OF SOUTH AFRICA Weight of the original diamond 47-75 cts. 1t was found near the Orange River in South Africa. The original crystal weighed 83.50 cts. and it was cut by Louis Hond into a 47.00 cts. oval. Although all tracks of this gem have been lost, we know that it was the property of the Countess Dudley, mounted together with 95 other diamonds on a splendid comb. 86 STAR OF THE EAST Weight of the original diamond 100.W cts. A big pear-shaped diamond, probably of Indian origin, it was property of the Turkish Sultan Abdul Hamid 11. In 1908 it was bought by the Walsh McLean family. It later became the property of the Egyptian King, Farouk. 87 STAR OF THE SOUTH Weight of the original diamond 128.80 cts. For its size, quality and beautiful oval shape, this diamond can be considered among the best "big gems". It was cut in Amsterdam, but it is best known for the fact that it was the biggest diamond ever found by a woman, a Brazilian slave, who subsequently obtained her freedom for its discovery. The rough stone weighed 261.88 cts.. 88 STEWART Weight of the original diamond 123-00 cts. We have little information regarding this diamond. The weight of the rough stone was 296.00 cts., and a merchant, Stewart, from whom it took its name, bought it at Port Elizabeth.. We have no information regarding its present owner. 89 SWAN Weight of the original diamond 36.00 cts. Presently belonging to a Canadian collection, this unique, hexagonally cut, delicate pale yellow diamond, is said to have been property of Queen Isabelle of Spain. 90

"Moon's Crown" , This stone is quite peculiar for its rose cut.
It is one of the best gems, together with the famous Darya-l-Nur, in the
