61 ORIOV Weight of the original diamond 189.62 cts. One of the biggest and most famous diamonds in the world and one of the most important of the Moscow Diamond Fund, it adorned the Imperial sceptre that can be admired at the Kremlin Museum in Moscow. The shape of the diamond is quite similar to a Tavernier's description of the Great Mogul and it is possible that it is the same stone that was previously hastily evaluated or later recut, It is named after the Count Orlov who gave the diamond as a present to the Empress Catherine the Great.

62 PAUL I Weight of the original diamond 13-35 cts. Violet-pink diamond, cushion-cut, it was mounted as the central stone in an Indian diadem that was bought by the Russian Royal Family. It was named after the Czar Paul, son of Catherine the Great. It is presently property of the Russian Diamond Fund.

63 PASHA OF EGYPT Weight of the original diamond 40.00 cts. Light yellow in color, this diamond belonged to the Egyptian treasure. Its light and characteristic octagonal shape are most impressive.

64 PEACH BLOSSOM Weight of the original diamond 24.00 cts. Many people consider this to be the diamond Hortensia owing to its similar weight and color, but the Peach Blossom was described in the inventory of the French Crown Property in 1791 as "pear-shaped diamond of peach-pink color". For the Hortensia to be the same stone, re-cut, it should weigh much less than its 20.00 cts.

65 PIGOT Weight of the original diamond 49.00 cts. 0val diamond of uncertain Indian origin, it has been said to have belonged to the Governor of Madras, Baron George Pigot, and later to Madame Bonaparte, Napoleon's wife.

66 PINK PEAR Weight of the original diamond 24.00 cts. Described as a pink pear-shaped diamond, we know only that it was bought by Louis XIV and exhibited at the Louvre Museum, as indicated in the inventory of the French Crown jewels.

67 POLAR STAR Weight of the original diamond 41.36 cts. Though the exact origin of this diamond is not known, it has been said to be the most "sparkling" diamond in existence. It is a particularly beautiful gem with a peculiar square shape, the corners slightly rounded and brilliant-cut.

68 PORTUGUESE Weight of the original diamond 127.00 cts. This is another gem exhibited at the Smithsonian institute in Washington D.C.. It is emerald-cut and flawless with a strong fluorescence that gives it a unique "velvet" look.

69 PRESIDENT VARGAS Weight of the original diamond 48.26 cts. 1t is the biggest diamond of a series of 30 emerald-cut gems, all cut from an original 726.60 cts. stone coming from the Minas Gerais in Brazil. The discovery was made in 1938 when Getutio Vargas was Brazil's President

70 PRINCE EDWARD OF YORK Weight of the original diamond 6o.25 cts. Important pear-shaped stone, brilliant-cut, imported into the USA in 1901 and mounted on an important collier together with another big oval gem, brilliant-cut and quite elongated and a big pear-shaped diamond together with 39 smaller diamonds.
