51 LESOTHO IV Weight of the original diamond 16.35 cts. This is the biggest pear-shaped stone cut from Lesotho. There are seven other pear-shaped stones of which the smallest weighs 1.86 cts., there are two naivetes, one emerald-cut of 3.50 cts., one 2.75 cts. square-cut carr6 and finally, the smallest stone, round and 1.08 cts.

52 LIBERATOR I Weight of the original diamond 39.80 cts. The original rough diamond of 155.00 cts. was discovered in the Venezuelan region of Grand Sabana and was given the name Liberator in honor of Simon Bolivar, the Liberator of Venezuela, It was bought in 1943, cleaved and cut into four gems, of which the biggest is this splendid emerald-cut of 39.80 cts.

53 LITTLE SANCY Weight of the original diamond 34.oo cts. 1t belonged to the collection of the Seigneur of Sancy of the French Court. It is called "little" to distinguish it from a very similar stone called "Le Grand Sancy" of similar form and in the same collection. Its bluish color and multi-faceted flat shape contribute to its elegant sparkling quality Belonging to Prince Frederick of Orange in 1647, it became property of King Frederick I of Prussia and was mounted as a pendant on a collier of Princess Mary of Saden-Altenburg. It still belongs to the Prussian Royal Family in Bremen

54 MAJOR BOWES Weight of the original diamond 44.50 cts. The characteristics of this gem are well known, cushion-cut with a beautiful yellow color, Its owner, Major Bowes, left it to Cardinal Spellman of New York who later sold it to a jeweler. It was stolen in 1958 and thereafter no trace exists.

55 MAXIMILLIAN Weight of the original diamond 33.00 cts. Of Brazilian origin and yellow-green in color, the 50.00 cts. rough diamond was bought by the Archduke Maximilian of Austria and cut into a 33.00 cts. gem for his wife, Princess Charlotte of Belgium.

56 MOON OF BARODA Weight of the original diamond 25.95 cts. 0f Indian origin, with a beautiful canary yellow col6ur, the diamond has a rounded pear-shape. It was exhibited in 1926 in Los Angeles.

57 NASSAK (Old Cut) Weight of the original diamond 80-59 cts. 1t belonged to the Hindu Treasure, near the town of Nassak, and was the eye of an idol of the God Shiva. The unusual triangular shape was later modified to an emerald-cut of 43.48 cts.

58 NEPAL Weight of the original diamond 79.41 cts. 0f probable Indian origin from the Golconda Mines, this magnificent pear-shaped stone, rare white and flawless, was property of the Maharajah Bir Shumsher of Nepal.

59 NIARCHOS I Weight of the original diamond 128.25 cts. From one rough stone of 426.50 cts., coming from the Premier Mine in South Africa, three gems were cut: one 40.00 cts. emerald-cut, one 30.00 cts. marquise and this marvelous 128.00 cts. pear-shaped stone, later bought by the ship-owner Stavros Niarchos.

60 NIZAM Weight of the original diamond approx.227.00 cts. This big diamond with the peculiar shape of a large faceted almond, belongs more to myth than to history It is said to have come from a rough diamond of 440.00 cts. extracted from the Golconda Mines about 1830 and to have been property of the Nizam of Hyderabad, whose name the diamond bears.
