Exhibited at the Louvre Museum this diamond combines a very unusual cut with a quite peculiar color. 42 IDOLS EYE Weight of the original diamond 70.20 cts. This diamond, particularly pure and with its peculiar color, comes from the Golconda Mines in India. its history dates back to 1607 when the East India Company obtained it from Prince Rahab. It later disappeared only to be rediscovered in 1906, said to be the idol's eye of a Temple in Benghazi and is the property of Sultan Abdul Hamid 11. 43 JONKER Weight of the original diamond 126.65 cts. It is the biggest of 12 diamonds, cut from a unique rough stone of 726.00 cts. It was found on the property of Jacobus Jonker, in an alluvial bank near Elandsfontein, Pretoria, South Africa. An exceptionally pure stone with extraordinary color, it was the property of King Farouk of Egypt who sold it after his exile in 1952. 44 JUBMEE Weight of the original diamond 245-35 cts. Extracted in 1895 from the famous South African mine of jagersfontein, it was cut in 1897, the year of Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee. 45 KIMBERLEY Weight of the original diamond 55.09 cts. Originating from the South African mine of Kimberley, the original rough stone was particularly pure and have a beautiful champagne color. It was first cut in a long, flat shape and belonged to the Russian Crown. It was cut into a modern shape in 1921 and cut again in 1958 to better its proportions and increase its light. 46 KOH-I-NOOR (New Cut) Weight of the original diamond 108-93 cts. This diamond also has a fabulous legend that goes back to 1300 telling that the owner of the Koh-I-Noor could rule the world. It belonged to the Shah Jahan and in its original cutting weighed 186.00 cts. The East India Company came into possession of the diamond in 1849 and it was given as a present, the year after, to Queen Victoria. The Queen had it cut in Amsterdam in a beautiful oval shape of 108.93 cts. and today, it still adorns the Crown of the Queen Mother and is among the British Crown jewels in the Tower of London. 47 LE GRAND CONDE Weight of the original diamond 50.00 cts. This diamond is not only beautiful due to its pear-shape with the slightly rounded point, but also for its extremely rare peach-pink color. Louis XIII bought it XIII and he gave it as a present to Louis of Bourbon, Prince of Conde. ernerald-cut, was named Lesotho 1. 49 LESOTHO II Weight of the original diamond 60.67 cts. It is the second largest stone cut from Lesotho. it is also emerald-cut, but with a more elongated shape. 50 LESOTHO III Weight of the original diamond 40.42 cts.
